Academic Success
Form 4 (Year 6) are celebrating their successes after gaining places at their preferred senior school choices. Among them we had some amazing exam successes (despite 2 national lockdowns this academic year), including our head boy gaining a charter scholarship to Bradford Grammar School and a range of other scholarships highlighting our academic successes.
Westville House School prepare our boys and girls for entry into senior school in Year 5. Our pupils move on to a wide variety of senior state and independent schools across the region, including Bradford Grammar School, Skipton Girls School, Ermysted’s School, Ilkley Grammar School, The Grammar School at Leeds and Giggleswick School. We support parents and pupils in choosing and applying to schools after Westville House. In 2020, all Year 6 pupils gained entry to their preferred school.
Westville House School is an excellent educational establishment which combines solid academic teaching with plenty of sport and many other activities to create great all-rounder pupils, who know how to apply themselves and how to support others.
From a Leading Senior School Headmaster.
At Westville House School we work with our Year 5 pupils pulling together an individual learning programme for each child so they can feel both prepared and confident sitting the senior school exams of their choice.
Our curriculum has evolved. We maintain a strong core in Maths, English and Science, which are taught by specialist teachers in these subjects. We also carry out regular NTS assessments throughout the year, which are measured against national statistics.
Our pupils show a genuine delight in being challenged and we are proud that each child has the opportunity to follow their passion and reach their full potential. In the last 3 years 56% of our pupils were awarded a total of 19 scholarships into top senior schools a few of these being The 1662 Scholarship at Bradford Grammar School, The all rounder with sports scholarship at Giggleswick School, The Charter Scholarship at Bradford Grammar School The Headmaster’s Award The Grammar School at Leeds and The Art Scholarship at Ashville College. The awards were made for a wide range of disciplines including academics, music, sport, drama and all-round ability.
It is the combination of our inclusive approach, rich and broad curriculum and energetic teachers that empowers children to discover and make the most of their strengths, whether they be in art, drama, poetry, music, maths, sport or all-round. There is the opportunity for every child to excel at Westville House School . As a non-selective school, children are obviously making fantastic progress throughout their time here, as judged by the wide variety of senior schools that we feed.
