Westville House Launches £1m development Programme
Westville House School Governors launch £1million visionary development programme.
Following the recent appointment of Mr Ian Shuttleworth, the Governors of Westville House School have unveiled a wide reaching and exciting plan which will take this ever popular and successful school forward into the next decade.
The scheme will encompass a brand new, purpose built Early Years Unit unrivalled in the locality. This will house the Nursery and Reception classrooms. A great emphasis has been given to the design of the Outdoor Play areas with new playground and of the moment ‘Free flow’ opportunities for all the Early Years children. The beautiful grounds within which Westville is situated lend themselves to some tremendous outdoor opportunities for children of all ages. A new ‘Hub’ will be built to link the Early Years with the main school and sports hall. This will become the heart of the school – through which everyone will pass every day. A new large library and media suite will be developed along with a futuristic ICT suite and whole school ICT upgrade. New learning support and medical rooms, new admin offices, much improved car parking along with scheduled investment in outstanding teaching and learning resources will ensure the school continues to be forward thinking and have the needs of every single child at heart.
Introducing the new plans to the Westville families earlier this week, Mr Neil Brown, Chairman of the Board of Westville Governors and Trustees, explained the rationale behind these hugely important developments. “Westville House School is already an outstanding school in terms of the care afforded to each child, the extensive opportunities open to all children and the quality of education that each child receives. As we open a new chapter in the history of the school with the advent of new Headmaster we felt the time was right to build on previous successes and take this wonderful school into the next decade offering the very best in educational excellence for every child”
Mr Ian Shuttleworth, who took over as Headmaster in September commented “This is a tremendous programme of investment for the school and will undoubtedly benefit every single child that we welcome here. Our desire to develop the skills and talents of each child is paramount and is underlined in the school principles ‘for every child to be the best version of themselves’. The development plans for Westville House will ensure that we provide the very best in independent education in the region.”
The first phase of the development - the new Reception and Nursery facilities, is due to be open in September 2016, with other developments following on.
Families with young children would be most welcome to visit the school on Saturday 5th March when the school will be hosting a Spring Open Morning. Staff will be on hand to show and explain the plans whilst children have a great time getting involved in the Toddler Triathlon, egg decorating and rolling and lots of other Spring activities.
