Communication with Parents

Communication with Parents

Parents are encouraged to discuss any concerns they have with school at all times.

An 'open door' policy is applied regarding this.

Throughout the year there are many points of contact where parents may meet staff to discuss their child's progress or needs within school. Apart from these, the staff are always available, should the need arise, for contact to be made at school when the need for discussion is immediate. Each member of staff has an email for direct contact. Staff will endeavour to respond to questions raised as soon as possible.

Parents’ Evenings

Parents of children in Nursery to Year 6, have two Parents' Evenings each year - one in the Autumn and one in the Spring Term.

Weekly Newsletter – ‘Westville Buzz’

This is the best way of communicating news of all events to parents. Each newsletter is sent to the designated email address on Fridays, during the term. We hope that most parents will take the opportunity to receive the newsletter by email. It contains information of forthcoming events, comments on past events and any general news that we wish to share with parents, plus weekly images. However, parents can opt to receive a weekly newsletter in hard copy if they do not have an email address.

School Calendar

Each term two copies of the school calendar will be issued to each family. One for your child to keep in their blazer pocket, the other for parents/guardians. The school calendar provides details of all events taking place, term dates and contact telephone numbers.

Homework Diary

Each child an is given a homework diary in September. It is one of the main ways in which parents and form teachers can communicate. The diary should be in school each day, taken home and signed by a parent at the weekend.
