The school firmly believes in identifying and supporting any child with additional educational needs. These children may then be given extra help in school to support or extend them, they may be tested within school to pinpoint the area of specific difficulty or it may be advised that screening by another professional is required.
Having established their needs, the children involved are monitored regularly on the AEN register and a programme is specifically designed to help them overcome their difficulties.
A Dyslexia trained teacher comes into school several days a week to work with children who have been identified by the Form Teacher, and then screened by her. She prepares a programme of work for each child and they can continue this with her or in the classroom setting.
Parents are encouraged to be involved at every stage and regular meetings are scheduled to keep everyone up to date with progress.
